Job Description

Are you looking for a career that makes a difference in your local community Join us at the Arc of Greater New Orleans! We are actively hiring a leader to join our team in the Mardi Gras Recycling Center!

Summary

The Mardi Gras Recycling Center (MGRC) Program Manager will work to support and assist the Director of MGRC with all operational tasks and supervise all DSP employees working in the MGRC. They will also be tasked with maintaining the MGRC storefront at the Arc of Greater New Orleans including overseeing sales stocking and supporting external relationships developed by the Director of MGRC.

Essential Job Functions

  • Managing and overseeing daily operations in the Mardi Gras Recycle Center (MRGC)
  • Ensure sufficient stock of store and warehouse shop specials and sales items
  • Document daily counts on product production
  • Responsible for training all employees on departmentspecific tasks including bead intake sorting stocking and store duties
  • Maintain store cleanliness and presentability by performing quality assurance of merchandise on an asneeded basis
  • Assist with the daily operation of the sorting room supported employment worksite for individuals with intellectual disabilities; coordinate necessary behavioral interventions with Supported Employment Program Coordinator and Support Coordination Agencies
  • Manage the bead sorting process track progress toward sorting goals and submit inventory reports to the Director in a timely fashion
  • Maintain adequate supplies of all that is necessary for bead sorting (bands bags bins pallets boxers trash bags cleaning supplies etc.)
  • Assist the Director with ensuring all contracts are completed in a timely fashion
  • Assist the Director in building collaborative relationships for volunteerism (e.g. schools local businesses krewes etc.)
  • Assist the Director with sorting room setup staffing volunteer orientation and engagement
  • Ability to operate software systems used to receive online orders and to operate register for sales in store.
  • Ensure the comfort safety and quality of experience of volunteers employees and customers by maintaining clean tidy and safe environments in warehouses sorting rooms and bead stores
  • Seek ways to better promote the store the product line and the service within the store
  • Perform other nonspecified duties as assigned by your supervisor

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma required Bachelors degree or retail management experience preferred
  • Prior experience working with people with IDD
  • Ability to speak in front of a group
  • Experience with coordinating volunteers is a preferred
  • Must have a valid LA drivers license and auto insurance

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Able to lift 50 pounds max as needed
  • Frequently lifting and/or carrying objects up to 20 pounds
  • Unrestricted walking and standing
