Job Description

Job Objective: To zoffer assurance to the Board and the Shariah Board regarding the banks

Accountabilities:
  1. Accomplish Internal Shari ah Audit objectives by bringing a systematic disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Shariah Control review and governance process of the Islamic banking operations products and services in order to adequately control the inherent risks of Shari ah noncompliance and assess the remedy measurements for the Residual risks of Shari ah noncompliance.
  2. Deliver quality timely and welldocumented Shari ah audit fieldwork in accordance with Internal Shari ah Audit methodology and IIA standards within strict timelines including feedback/review comments.
  3. Lead and monitor the Shari ah policies processes and procedures
  4. Govern the Shari ah Audit of all the companys transactions operations activities annual financial statements and annual report to identify and rectify any Shari ah noncompliance issues.
  5. Ensure that audit deliverables meet quality standards and timelines in line with the international accepted methodology.
  6. Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation to improve overall Shari ah Governance in the company and to entrench a culture of Shariah Compliance in company.
  7. Oversee the reporting and communication to Management on Shari ah Audit matters.
  8. Lead the Shariah Audit of existing policies guidelines processes rules and regulations etc
  9. Monitor new market developments and evaluate their impact upon the companys operations & activities and putup appropriate recommendations to the ACE.
  10. Provide Shariah Audit Guidance input to the ACE on various highlevel policyrelated committees established by the management of company.
  11. Supervise coach and mentor subordinates


Requirements

This role requires that the job holder:

Educational Qualification:


  • Master s degree in Islamic Banking and Finance or related fields. (PhD in Islamic Banking would be an added advantage).
  • Certificate in Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years post qualification experience with at least 5 years experience in Islamic Finance/Shariah compliance shariah advisory internal and external shariah audit preferably in international organizations
