Job Description

The Director of Group Sales will be responsible for directing coordinating training and supervising the Group Sales Managers in all salesrelated activities. Youll assist in the creation of strategies and the direct oversight of the execution of plans and tactics used to focus on increasing direct revenue for the property. Youll also be responnsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits and to improve the hotels performance in the marketplace.

What youll do

  • Direct and manage all group sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel
  • Prepare implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan monthly SMART goals annual goals sales and marketing budget forecasts and other reports as directed/required
  • Collaborate with the DOS and Commercial Director to develop rates group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data demand analysis and mix management
  • Recruit direct manage train and counsel group sales staff.
  • Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal state and local employment and civil rights laws
  • Participate in sales presentations property tours and customer meetings
  • Conduct and attend business review meetings strategic sales meetings management meetings and other meetings as required/ requested
  • Represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events
  • Participate as team player with other key leadership members
  • Be a leader and role model to all team members
  • Supervise administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales Department
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the resort
  • Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the group sales team
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
  • Meet or exceed established goals
  • Operate the group sales area within established sales expense budget
  • Coordinate group bookings to maximize profits
  • Initiate and follow up on leads
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within said market. Ensure group sales team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territories
  • Coordinate all nongroup transient sales solicitations to maximize market mix
  • Administer training in the Sales department
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and daily line ups
  • Review meeting planner evaluations as received to ensure that any problems are rectified
  • Devising or modifying procedures to solve process problems that will result in more efficient operations
  • Any other reasonable duties as assigned.
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service.  We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.

Qualifications :

What were looking for...

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required preferably in an upscale and/or lifestyle brand hotel or luxury resort
  • Allinclusive experience strongly preferred
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage catering sales conference service and marketing management experience guest relations and etiquette
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Basic understanding of legal contract language
  • Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the companys values
  • A proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera Microsoft Word Excel & Outlook
