Position Overview: The Forge Grinder is responsible for the grinding and finishing of metal parts produced from forging operations. This role involves the safe and efficient use of manual and powered grinding tools to remove excess material refine surfaces and ensure parts meet strict aerospace specifications. The Forge Grinder will work closely with the forging and quality teams to deliver highprecision components.
Key Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain manual and automated grinding equipment to finish forged parts.
- Inspect parts for defects and ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Remove excess material burrs and sharp edges from forged metal parts.
- Measure and check work using precision tools such as calipers micrometers and gauges.
- Ensure all work is completed to safety standards meeting both company and industry regulations.
- Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform regular equipment maintenance and report any mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with the forging and quality teams to ensure seamless production flow.
- Adhere to all safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
- 13 years of experience in metalworking grinding or a similar role.
- Knowledge of metal forging processes and aerospace specifications is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers micrometers etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced production environment.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
