The Opportunity:

Our client is searching for an Electrical Designer to join their growing team in Toronto (North York), ON on a full-time basis. This role will operate on a hybrid basis of in-office/on-site and work from home.

The Electrical Designer will successfully design and engineer unique and challenging electrical building systems projects for commercial, health care, multi-residential, industrial and institutional facilities. The Electrical Designer, while working towards their P.Eng, will perform analysis, design, and model of rudimentary electrical systems and elements for various construction projects.

This role will also act as a Project Coordinator on a selection of projects, as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

power distribution layouts
calculating electrical system loads, electrical panel schedules and single line diagrams
designing lighting layouts and lighting photo-metric calculations
designing fire alarm and life safety layouts
designing communications, security, audio visual and other specialized electrical systems
submitting new Hydro Service Connection
designing UPS/inverter and/or mission critical electrical systems
preparing technical electrical specifications
preparing technical reports (feasibility studies, life cycle analyses, condition assessments etc.)
conducting site assessments

Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor s degree in the field of Electrical Engineering
  
• Working towards P. Eng. from PEO
  
• 3+ years of experience in an electrical design role
  
• 3+ years of experience as an Engineer in the fields of Electrical Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm and Life Safety systems and Low Voltage Systems including: Communication, Security and AV Systems
  
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD and/or Revit software
  
• Current in-depth knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Canadian Electrical Code/Ontario Electrical Safety Code and CSA standards
  
• Must have valid license
  
• At least 3+ years in Engineering Consulting space
