As the Director of Collections you will safeguard the credit unions assets through effective collections strategies delinquent loan management and team development. You will oversee daily operations in areas such as real estate chargeoffs bankruptcy repossession remarketing and other delinquent loan activities ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a cohesive highperforming team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work from home after training is completed with occasional attendance in the Dallas office as needed. Must be local to DFW.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: Analyze delinquency portfolios identify risks and develop strategies to reduce chargeoffs and delinquencies.
- Collections Oversight: Manage recovery actions including legal processes bankruptcies repossessions and claims ensuring all accounts are handled accurately.
- Regulatory Compliance: Train staff and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards related to collections.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular updates to management on delinquency trends loan loss allowances and other critical metrics.
- Policy Development: Update collections policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Post ChargeOff Management: Oversee postchargeoff processes including credit reporting and the use of EOscar systems.
- Loss Mitigation: Negotiate and administer loss mitigation strategies including loan modifications and refinancing per credit union policies.
- Team Leadership: Set productivity goals conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to build a motivated and skilled collections team.
- Additional Duties: Perform other jobrelated tasks as assigned.
Performance Metrics:
- Maintain chargeoffs and delinquent accounts within established business plan goals.
- Maximize recovery of assets from delinquent and chargedoff accounts.
- Build and maintain a welltrained cohesive and motivated team.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and internal policy standards.
- Deliver timely and accurate service to members and associates.
- Develop recommendations to improve efficiency and enhance policies.
Qualifications :
Experience:
5 years of experience in collections or a related field.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills:
- Strong leadership verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic statistical/data analysis.
- Knowledge of state and federal collection laws including FDCPA and FCRA.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
