Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the clinical and medical sector. This role involves managing financial reporting compliance and accounting operations in a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and an ability to work closely with clinical and medical teams to ensure accurate financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.
- Oversee financial audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for clinical operations and departments.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop accurate financial projections and track performance against budget.
- Monitor variances and provide actionable insights for cost management and financial improvement.
Cost Analysis:
- Perform cost analysis related to clinical services procedures and supplies.
- Monitor the financial impact of clinical decisions such as purchasing medical equipment or negotiating with vendors.
- Review and evaluate the financial health of clinical programs and initiatives.
Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including billing practices Medicare/Medicaid and other payer systems.
- Stay uptodate on changes in healthcare laws and tax regulations affecting financial operations.
- Manage compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as it pertains to financial data.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely processing of payments and collections.
- Oversee the reconciliation of outstanding invoices insurance claims and patient accounts.
- Ensure proper handling of patient billing and coding procedures.
Internal Controls:
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Recommend improvements to processes for efficiency and risk mitigation.
Team Management and Leadership:
- Manage and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure team members understand accounting processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teams including clinical billing and administrative departments to resolve financial issues.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Use financial data to identify trends make recommendations and support strategic decisionmaking within the clinical and medical environment.
- Present financial information to senior management department heads and stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in accounting
Minimum of 4 to 5 years experience in clinic / medical sector.
