The Director Global Patient & Community Partnerships Immunology will bring strategic connectivity across functions to enable a more holistic strategic approach to patient advocacy within our Immunology business. The Director will be responsible for working with crossfunctional stakeholders to advance enterprise strategies for patient advocacy and community engagement for priority disease areas within their therapeutic area; cultivating meaningful impactful relationships with patient advocacy groups starting early in the R&D process and throughout the lifecycle to help incorporate and amplify the patient voice across AbbVie and supporting a consistent and one AbbVie approach to engaging the patient advocacy community. The Director will report to the Senior Director Global Patient & Community Partnerships in Corporate Affairs.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the enterprisewide strategy for patient advocacy and community partnerships for the therapeutic area collaborating in a hub and spoke model with functions to enable a more strategic enterprise approach to patient advocacy and community engagement across the lifecycle; foster better visibility and connectivity among functions to better align and share best practices and insights and to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of patient advocacy and community stakeholders to support mutual goals.
- Collaborate with internal functions to develop and align on a comprehensive patient engagement plan for specific disease areas enabling broad understanding of engagement goals enhancing strategic engagement and improving visibility across functions to reduce redundancies.
- Constantly evaluate opportunities to engage the patient advocacy and community voice across the lifecycle; help to facilitate an inclusive patient centric approach to patient advocacy focus groups and advisory boards and other mechanism to enable diverse and inclusive insights.
- Conduct comprehensive landscape assessments for select disease areas to inform engagement strategies and continuously evaluate the global ecosystem of patient groups to identify new partnership opportunities supporting functional engagement and business priorities
- Build and nurture longterm meaningful relationships with patient advocacy groups communitybased organizations and others that are based on mutual trust respect transparency and shared goals.
- Foster an environment of learning through the facilitation of best practice and insight sharing from across functions and geographies to ensure insights from patient advocacy and community engagement are systematically embedded across the lifecycle fostering patientcentric decision making.
- Support functional capabilitybuilding for patient group engagement where needed including facilitating training sessions to ensure consistent compliant and effective interactions with patient groups.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare/biopharma in patient advocacy patient engagement corporate affairs community engagement or other patientfocused roles
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing insightdriven patientcentric and measurable patient advocacy strategies
- Very strong business acumen strategic and critical thinking; creative and solutions oriented
- Strong track record of building and maintaining meaningful trustbased relationships with patient advocacy communities demonstrating deep respect understanding and appreciation for the patient voice and equity
- Strong understanding of the expansive opportunities for patient advocacy organizations to be engaged throughout the lifecycle and the value of patient advocacy and where engagement and insights can have most impact
- Demonstrated ability to work strategically and effectively across functions in a highly matrixed organization to influence without authority to advance towards mutual goals
- Strong planning execution and project management skills and strong interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport and credibility with AbbVie leaders across functions
- Strong communications critical thinking and interpersonal skills strong ability to influence without authority the ability to speak and write persuasively and with clarity strong organizational skills flexibility and resourcefulness and creativity and ability to work collaboratively in a fluid organizational environment.
- Must be an individual who works well in a team environment and enjoys working in a collegial yet highly demanding culture. Must be able to work collaboratively with senior business leaders and other internal stakeholders across the enterprise.
