Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a Support Worker/Advocate on a 13month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Hours per week: 24

Rate of Pay: 13.86 17.14 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • To act as support worker/advocate for a colleague with Aspergers syndrome with a focus on providing the appropriate and required support presenting their wishes acting with integrity professionalism and respect and ensuring at all times that the needs of the individual are paramount.
  • Support and encourage the individual to seek out and participate in career opportunities e.g. job shadowing training.
  • Support the employee to maximise any available training and development opportunities including mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist the individual with engaging fully in training or new tasks or when exploring career development opportunities or applying for a vacancy.
  • Work with the individual line management relevant parties and colleagues to understand and support with the learning of new tasks skills and actions.

Qualifications:

  • Professional or voluntary experience of supporting adults with Autism or Aspergers syndrome.
  • Strong understanding of neurodiversity disability rights and workplace inclusion.
  • Experience of engaging supporting empowering and championing staff that are neurodivergent.
  • Experience of supporting individuals with neurodiverse conditions particularly Aspergers Syndrome preferable in a professional setting.
