Job Summary As a Sales Tax Accountant you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with multistate sales tax regulations. You will prepare review and file sales and use tax returns using Vertex and other tax management systems conduct tax research to maintain compliance and work closely with various departments to address taxrelated inquiries. This position is ideal for a detailoriented professional with a strong foundation in multistate tax accounting who can work independently and interact effectively with team members.
Key Responsibilities - Sales and Use Tax Filing: Prepare review and file sales and use tax returns for multiple states using Vertex or similar tax management systems to ensure adherence to state and local tax regulations.
- Tax Compliance and Research: Research and interpret multistate tax rules and regulations applicable to various products and services. Provide guidance on tax issues to ensure Canons practices align with regulatory changes.
- Data Analysis and Reconciliation: Utilize Excel Oracle and Tableau to analyze tax data reconcile discrepancies and prepare accurate documentation. Conduct regular audits to verify compliance and accuracy.
- CrossFunctional Collaboration: Work closely with finance accounting and operational teams to communicate taxrelated updates and address compliance concerns.
- System Utilization and Process Improvement: Leverage Vertex Returns and other tax software to streamline processes enhance accuracy and support efficient tax filings.
Required Qualifications - Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA designation is a plus.
- Experience: 35 years of experience in multistate sales tax accounting.
- Tax Systems Proficiency: Proficiency in Vertex Returns or a similar tax management system is required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills are essential; familiarity with Oracle and Tableau is highly desirable.
- Tax Research Skills: Proven experience in researching tax regulations for products and services and applying them effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work independently take ownership of responsibilities and communicate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications - Construction Accounting Background: Prior experience in the consumer electronics industry is an advantage.
- Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to streamline tax processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve tax discrepancies.
