Responsibilities
- 70% of role is reviewing and preparing federal and multistate tax returns on a timely and efficient basis including business partnerships individuals notforprofit and trust returns
- Review and prepare annual tax provisions and tax planning calculations for estimate and extension purposes
- Research complex tax matters in order to summarize results and propose resolutions
- Monitor and communicate legislative and regulatory tax law developments
- Supervise and train members of the tax team
- Manage/coach interns parttimers and junior associates
- Develop and sustain strong client relationships
- Respond to client inquires and taxing authorities
- Perform other accounting and tax duties as assigned
Requirements
YOU MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE U.S. WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.
- A bachelor s degree in accounting or a related major
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license highly preferred especially if you want to progress and become a partner
- 6 years of prior experience in public accounting
- 5 years of experience in private accounting (midsized CPA/Accounting firm) working with midsized companies (LLC SCorp) and high net worth individuals/trusts
- Stable work history
- Knowledge of the following software programs is preferred:
- QuickBooks Desktop and Online
- Microsoft Office in particular Excel and Word
- CCH ProSystem FX or Axcess Tax
- Caseware
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and up to date on recent changes
- Willing to be handson
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and to analyze problems logically and comprehensively distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
- Ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters in a tactful and discreet manner
- Strong interpersonal skills including the capability to effectively present information and respond to clients needs.
