Job Overview
The ideal candidate for this role should be an experienced and proficient MidLevel Quantity Surveyor. In this position you will be essential to the cost management and financial oversight of construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting feasibility studies to estimate material and labor costs preparing negotiating and analyzing costs for tenders and contracts coordinating work efforts providing advice on legal and contractual matters and valuing completed work to arrange for payments. A strong background in Quantity Surveying along with excellent analytical and communication skills is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with management contractors and subcontractors to communicate adjustments to cost estimates ensuring smooth information transfer.
- Lead negotiations throughout the project to resolve any issues and maintain progress.
- Manage the project scope to align with objectives enhancing deliverables and key activities.
- Monitor project costs to ensure they remain within budget and adhere to building contract regulations.
- Oversee compliance with industry standards throughout the project.
- Conduct cost analysis and develop strategies for cost reduction aiming to maximize the overall value of the project.
- Prepare tender and contract documents in compliance with building and construction regulations.
- Provide guidance on contractual claims ensuring proper management of the project scope.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs measurements and cost estimates for construction projects.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and tender documentation.
- Review project specifications drawings and other related documents to identify potential cost savings and opportunities for value engineering.
- Support the preparation and evaluation of tender submissions. Manage cost planning and control activities throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Work closely with project managers architects engineers and contractors to ensure project cost objectives are achieved.
- Track and monitor project expenses variations and contractual commitments.
- Prepare regular progress reports cost forecasts and final accounts.
- Conduct periodic site visits to assess project progress verify quantities and evaluate costs.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 6 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry.
- Membership with The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor ideally at a midlevel.
- Strong knowledge of real estate construction methods and industry standards.
- Proficiency in measurement software such as AutoCAD PlanSwift and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of contract administration and procurement processes.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing accurate highquality work.
- Experience with interior and architectural projects providing valuable insights into the unique challenges and complexities of this field.
- A clear understanding of HSE building regulations and legal guidelines.
