NOC Operations Management:
Supervise the NOC team in monitoring and managing network infrastructure including routers switches servers and other critical network components.
Ensure 24/7 monitoring of network systems and respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling network incidents outages and performance issues.
Oversee the configuration and management of network monitoring tools to ensure realtime visibility of the network s health.
Incident and Problem Management:
Lead the investigation and resolution of network incidents ensuring that issues are escalated and resolved within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Coordinate with other departments (e.g. technical support field teams) for incident resolution.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Ensure proper documentation of all incidents and resolutions in the ticketing system.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead train and mentor the NOC team ensuring that engineers and technicians are equipped with the skills and tools necessary to perform their duties.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Manage shift schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage and adequate staffing during peak hours or critical incidents.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage team members to stay updated on new networking technologies and practices.
Network Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
Monitor the network for performance bottlenecks capacity issues and potential vulnerabilities.
Work with the technical and engineering teams to implement network optimization strategies and upgrades.
Proactively identify areas for improvement in network infrastructure and recommend enhancements or replacements.
Ensure that network performance metrics (e.g. uptime latency bandwidth usage) are tracked and reported regularly.
Escalation and Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex network issues that cannot be resolved by the NOC team.
Coordinate with vendors internet service providers and hardware suppliers to resolve hardware failures or service disruptions.
Communicate with internal stakeholders and customers during major incidents providing regular updates and estimated resolution times.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ensure that all network events incidents and maintenance activities are properly logged in the network management system.
Generate daily weekly and monthly reports on network performance incidents and SLA compliance for senior management.
Maintain accurate network diagrams asset inventories and other documentation related to the NOC s operations.
Compliance and Security:
Ensure that the NOC adheres to all compliance and security protocols including data protection and cybersecurity best practices.
Work with the security team to monitor for potential security threats and ensure appropriate action is taken.
Implement regular network security audits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field.
Certifications such as CCNA CCNP ITIL or CompTIA Network are highly desirable.
Experience:
5 years of experience in network management including 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar environment overseeing 24/7 network monitoring and incident management.
Experience with network monitoring tools like Zabbix SolarWinds Nagios or similar platforms.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of network architecture and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP BGP OSPF MPLS).
Expertise in managing routers switches firewalls and load balancers.
Familiarity with network security practices including firewall management intrusion detection and VPNs.
Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex network issues.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, or CompTIA Network+ are highly desirable.
Full Time
