Our client a key player in Indonesias mining sector known for its significant copper and gold operations commitment to sustainability and innovative approaches to environmental and social responsibility is currently seeking a Manager for Smelter Operations.
The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire smelting process ensuring efficient and safe operations maintaining high productivity and achieving production targets. This role involves managing a team of professionals implementing best practices and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the smelter to ensure production goals are met
- Implement and monitor operational procedures and policies
- Optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all smelting equipment
Team Leadership
- Lead train and develop a team of supervisors engineers and operators
- Foster a culture of safety teamwork and continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all operations comply with health safety and environmental regulations
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency response plans
Quality Control
- Maintain high standards of product quality
- Implement quality control measures and monitor output
- Address any quality issues promptly and effectively
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the operational budget
- Monitor expenses and optimize resource allocation
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and present regular reports on production safety and financial performance
- Maintain accurate and uptodate records of all operations and maintenance activities
- Ensure proper documentation of all incidents and corrective actions
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team
Work is primarily performed in a smelter environment with exposure to high temperatures loud noises and hazardous materials. Oncall duties required
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related field (Masters Degree highly desirable)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in smelting operations with at least 5 years in a managerial role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities
- Indepth knowledge of smelting processes and equipment
- Proficiency in using operational and safety management software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Six Sigma PMP) are a plus
