Job Description

Job Summary:

This position provides administrative and surgery scheduling support for the operating room and leadership team.

Job Expectations:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service over the phone to patients other Fairview entities departments and others.
  • Communicate accurate information regarding surgical procedures adhering to established processes to support operating room operations.
  • Place work orders for broken equipment.
  • Assist customers with questions related to addon procedures and other surgicalrelated inquiries.
  • Take accurate phone messages and forward them to the appropriate person for resolution.
  • Maintain a positive and helpful tone when assisting callers.

Surgical Procedure Scheduling:

  • Schedule surgical procedures daily using EPIC the electronic health record system.
  • Communicate with all staff involved in preparing and performing surgeries.
  • Ensure thorough communication with the charge nurse.
  • Respond to basic requests as assigned.

Additional Administrative Support:

  • Assist in gathering information completing forms and performing other tasks as needed.
Organization Expectations:
  • Provide care or services adjusted to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the population served.

    • Partner with caregivers in care decisionmaking.
    • Communicate respectfully.
    • Ensure a safe secure environment.
    • Individualize care plans to meet patient needs.
    • Modify clinical interventions based on the population served.
    • Provide patient education based on an assessment of learning needs.
  • Fulfill organizational requirements:

    • Complete all required learning relevant to the role.
    • Comply with all relevant laws regulations policies and procedures.
    • Foster a culture of improvement efficiency and innovation.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in customer service front desk department assistance or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills in person by phone and via email.
  • Ability to learn and use various computer systems.

Preferred:

  • Experience: Experience with EPIC Excellion or similar EMR systems.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
