Job Summary:
The company a leader in aerospace manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled NDT (NonDestructive Testing) Level 2 Penetrant Technician to join our team in Gardena CA. The NDT Level 2 Penetrant Technician will be responsible for conducting liquid penetrant testing to detect discontinuities and defects in aerospace components. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in NDT techniques including interpreting and evaluating test results while adhering to stringent aerospace industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform liquid penetrant testing on aerospace components to detect surface discontinuities and defects according to company and industry standards (e.g. ASTM ASNT NADCAP).
- Interpret and evaluate test results using established criteria and procedures to determine part acceptability.
- Read and interpret blueprints engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure proper testing and compliance with required standards.
- Prepare parts for inspection including cleaning application of penetrant and removal of excess penetrant.
- Use ultraviolet (UV) lights to inspect parts after developer application and ensure any indications are accurately identified.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results and ensure proper reporting of findings in accordance with company protocols.
- Collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to address any quality issues and ensure that testing processes meet company and customer requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and calibrating NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Follow all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of chemicals used in the penetrant testing process.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable industry certifications and regulations including ASNT NAS 410 and NADCAP requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- NDT Level 2 certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) in accordance with ASNT or NAS 410 standards.
- Minimum of 23 years of experience in penetrant testing in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings blueprints and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problemsolving skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications including ASTM ASNT and NADCAP requirements.
- Ability to work independently and accurately under minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain accurate test records.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace industry and knowledge of aerospace material properties.
- Familiarity with other NDT methods (e.g. radiography ultrasonic or magnetic particle testing) is a plus.
- Experience working in a NADCAPaccredited facility.
Work Environment:
- Fulltime position in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to chemicals UV lights and metalworking environments.
