Tasks
How youll contribute
Youll play a crucial role in our Hardware Engineering team bringing your deep experience in mechanical design to implement groundbreaking products and good design practice to how we streamline how we assemble and test these products.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and development of the absorption and desorption units for our next generation DAC plants.
- Choose process components such as sensors valves pumps and vessels according to requirements and translate P&IDs into 3D CAD designs.
- Design and develop parts and plant units according to industry norms.
- Manage mechanical design projects including initial factory ideation machine commissioning and eventual handoff to manufacturing or test engineering.
- Design piping infrastructure according to industry norms (e.g. Pressure Equipment Directive Operational Safety Ordinance and Federal Immission Control Act)
- Rapidly iterate on process optimization and development testing in a fastpaced environment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure hardware integrates with the DAC plant and supports necessary process operations.
- Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and customers.
- Be responsible for project delivery timeline from early design through production commissioning and maintenance.
- Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work.
Heres what the first 12 months in the role could look like:
Months 03: Your initial focus will be on translating P&IDs and toplevelBOMs into floor plans and design concepts. Youll select and integrate components (e.g. pumps valves sensors) to ensure synchronization and choose materials suited to our unique process conditions collaborating with experts from component suppliers.
Months 36: You own the design of plant subassemblies and test stands and create 3D CAD models reflecting assembly maintenance and operating principles in line with plant engineering standards. The documentation of your work ensures a flawless handover to fabrication.
Months 612: During this phase youll take over technical responsibility of commercial projects with a clear roadmap towards industrialization. Youll tackle scaleup plant studies engage with customers and investors lead designtomanufacturing projects for missioncritical components and mentor a team of junior designers through rigorous and rapid design cycles.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Completed studies in mechanical engineering electromechanical engineering or comparable qualification (e.g. technician / CAD designer B.Sc. M.Sc. PhD)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- You are an experienced engineer with extensive experience in the field of plant engineering (Anlagenbau) or special machinery construction (Sondermaschinenbau) projects especially those involving liquid mediums.
- You have successfully applied Pressure Equipment Directive Operational Safety Ordinance and Federal Immission Control Act
- Proficient in CAD particularly Autodesk Inventor ready to bring innovative designs to life.
- A problem solver with a handson mentality eager to lead projects from ideation to pilot production.
- Fluent in English with German skills being a significant advantage.
- Willing to occasionally travel and work onsite as needed with relocation support available.
