Progress DB Consultant

• Strong technical skills Progress (should be good at writing queries procedures etc)
• Sound knowledge of Database concepts
• Experienced in Unix platform and Shell scripts
• Should have some experience in Admin side (Ex. Adding new extents Server diskspace & memory and should be able to take care of upgrades and patches ). Should be able to work on releases
• Investigate and resolve L2 production support incidents for applications using Progress DB. Should have good troubleshooting skills to troubleshoot production issues and should possess good technical skills to be able to do permanent code fixes for bugs and work on minor enhancements
• Candidate should possess experience in client facing role
• Should be willing to work in Shifts and weekend support for Maintenance Activity Skills

• Progress bugfixes and small enhancements (25%)
• Related to larger project initiatives on the Java or AS/400 side
• Responses to user issues
• Internally identified issues (e.g. as a result of data analysis queries or other research)
• Support of our two Progress apps (50%)
• Login issues
• Installation issues
• Data problems
• Application errors or functionality questions
• Both production and nonprod
• System administration (25%)
• DB administration (e.g. adding new extents to the DB)
• Preparing new releases (prod or nonprod); its semiautomated so it requires some effort to prepare and publish
• Server diskspace & memory problems
• Server upgrades & patches (mostly limited to smoke testing typically offhours)
