Job Description

Job Summary: The Accounting Clerk will support the finance department by performing a variety of clerical and accounting tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records assisting in the processing of accounts payable and receivable and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable:

    • Process and verify invoices for payment including matching coding and batching.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Prepare and print checks ensuring all payments are accurate and timely.
    • Maintain communication with vendors regarding payment status and any issues.
  2. Accounts Receivable:

    • Generate and send invoices to customers.
    • Record incoming payments (cash checks ACH) and reconcile them with invoices.
    • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
    • Assist in the preparation of bank deposits and reconciliation of accounts.
  3. General Accounting:

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
    • Maintain and update financial records in the accounting software.
    • Perform data entry and ensure accuracy in all transactions.
    • Assist with bank reconciliations credit card reconciliations and other account reconciliations as needed.
    • Support the monthend and yearend close processes.
  4. Clerical Support:

    • Maintain organized and accurate filing systems for financial records.
    • Assist with the preparation of financial documents and reports for audits and tax filings.
    • Provide administrative support to the finance department including answering phones responding to emails and managing correspondence.
    • Handle additional tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an Associates degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 13 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
