Job Description

Manager, People & Culture - Portugal
Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture, this is an exciting and truly unique career opportunity for a passionate HR professional who is looking for a challenging and rewarding role. This role will be tasked with leading the management of our Europe processes, policies, HRIS platform, payroll, training program, recruitment (full cycle), labor relations, employee engagement and culture initiatives; and will also be responsible for several HR projects for the organization. A key contribution will be the setup of new talent attraction strategies across Europe. While providing admin support for HR, this person will also work closely with the global local management team to support strategic plans from a people perspective

Responsibilities:
Human Resource Management:
  • Manage a team of HR professionals working in Portugal in their daily work requires to ensure that the team in Europe is performing at their best.
  • Building strong relationships with employees and helping manage all dimensions of employee relations.
  • Providing coaching and counseling to your direct reports and employees in areas such as conflict resolution and career development.
  • Assist with career development plans for your team, Portugal and European employees, and the implementation of learning and development programs, as well as other process improvements.
  • Maintain personnel records and records keeping including benefits, compensation, and leaves of absence.
  • Assist with on-boarding process and new hire integration into organization and the exiting process of employees leaving the company.
  • Assist with on-going program and policy assessments to ensure continued cultural and as well as facility improvements and growth, and ensure policies are followed Company-wide.
  • Ensuring compliance with all national and local employment laws
  • Assist with the training, initiative and development of new HRIS system.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Leading and creating a culture within the HR Team in Portugal that supports process improvement, increased efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Providing consultative full cycle recruitment services and advice on advertising, sourcing and selection methods, interview, and negotiation methodology.
  • Approach each day with a "roll up your sleeves" attitude and a proactive, data-driven approach to find root-causes and fix them.
  • Coordinate recruiting resources in partnership with IT Technical Recruiter for post-secondary recruitment, career fairs, establishing professional relationships with college and community placement offices as sources to generate qualified applicants.
  • Work with department managers and directors locally (Portugal and Europe) to perform job analysis to document job requirements and objectives.
  • Prepare recruitment materials and manage job postings alongside appropriate Social Media Networks, Internal Job Boards, and Jolera affiliated Colleges.
  • Work with team to enhance candidate experience by establishing and maintaining consistent feedback loop for candidates.

Culture

Lead Europe culture initiatives

  • Manage the Europe employee recognition programs in accordance with the Global initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain membership programs, such as Gym, Pharmacy, Medical Care, Dental Care, etc.
  • Oversee benefits administrations and process terminations.
  • Partnering with the Marketing & Communications team to design, launch and organize culture initiatives.

Payroll, Administrative & Legal

Lead Compliance, Legal & Payroll

  • Prepare payroll under the supervision of the Finance team
  • Manage complaints, grievance procedures and employee relations for Portugal
  • Knowledge of legal requirements in labor relations, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance
  • Support the implementation and use of HRIS systems and other HR Platforms

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Human Resources
  • Full working proficiency in Portuguese (C2 minimum)
  • Full working proficiency in English (C2 minimum)
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a people manager in the HR area, preferably in the IT/Tech space
  • Training in HR subjects such as Payroll & Administration, People Management and Performance Evaluation
  • Knowledge of Portugal labor laws
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
