Job Description

At Ground Control we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in driving our environmental initiatives nationwide ensuring compliance across all our field teams and divisions as well as fostering a culture of sustainability within our organisation and our clients.

This is a nationwide hybrid role that will involve weekly travel to multiple fieldbased sites

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement environmental policies and practices across all company operations.
  • Provide training and support to staff on environmental issues and best practices these will include toolbox talks to field teams nationwide.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits
  • Develop and manage sustainability projects aimed at reducing waste emissions and energy consumption
  • Prepare and present reports on environmental performance to senior management.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including regulatory bodies community groups and industry partners.
  • Stay updated with emerging environmental trends technologies and legislation.

The person;

This role is ideal for an existing Environmental Adviser or Manager who has worked in high risk environments such as Rail or Utilities although we can also consider a Construction background as well.

Whatever your background you will need strong experience in environmental management ideally backed up with a degree in Environmental Science or a related field however this is not essential.

In addition you will need;

  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
  • Proven experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and audits
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A willingness to roll your sleeves up and get involved at a field level with our teams
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across different seniority levels
  • Willingness to travel across the UK & Ireland as required.
