The team:
Scotiabanks Global Technology Services (GTS) Infrastructure Operations L2 UNIX team is responsible for providing infrastructure support on servers running Linux and Solaris operating systems for various missioncritical business applications.

The role:
As part of a team you will provide systemslevel support for over 3000 missioncritical application production and nonproduction servers. Your responsibilities include technical troubleshooting and providing solutions to complex issues plus work on capacity planning and providing recommendations. This role will include project work and interacting with multiple team members.

There is occasional overtime for afterhours or weekend work. Also rotational 24x7 oncall support.

You embrace 2nd level UNIX support on production issues participating in Incident Management / Problem Management / Change Management; and working on security vulnerabilities as part of the audit and compliance requirements.
You get to work on Solaris Linux operating systems running on Oracle Sparc and x86 HW products and virtual hosts including LDoms VMware and Cloud.
You also get to work with Veritas Clustering/Storage Foundation RedHat clustering Solaris ZFS (Zettabyte File System) and EMC/Hitachi SAN storage products.
You will monitor the environment and identify any issues which could be of a risk and then rectify them.
You will work on automation using Ansible for implementing changes patching fixing security vulnerabilities and writing scripts for system monitoring.
You provide assistance to project management functions during all stages of requirements rollout including assessment planning initiation implementation and management.
You enjoy assisting in the identification development and maintenance of policies and procedures that are relevant to the proper operational functions of the Unix infrastructure.
