Job Description

Head Gardener

Our client is seeking a head gardener for an estate based in County Kildare. The estate has a half an acre walled garden with polytunnels and glasshouses. These are kept to a high standard. This is a head gardener position and is a sole role although one or two students will be available in the summer months on a part time basis to assist. The candidate will liaise with the estate manager to identify what is needed per growing season. The ability to work unsupervised is important and pride in the job and in your work and discretion essential. Also the candidate should have a very keen interest in biodiversity and organic gardening.

On the property there is also a large kitchen garden so a knowledge of fruit and vegetable growing is essential.
The role will include maintenance of herbaceous beds weeding irrigationpruning fruit and veg production propagation general garden maintenance cut flowers wildflower areas indoor plants woodland areas. Must also be able to use machinery rotavator quad bikes etc.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of horticulture and a qualification in horticulture a full driving licence and good all round gardening knowledge and ability.

A good salary is on offer based on experience and ability.
