Job Description

THE ORGANIZATION


The Alliance of Bioversity International delivers researchbased solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people s lives. Alliance solutions address the global crises of malnutrition climate change biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.

The Alliance works with local national and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean Asia and Africa and with the public and private sectors. The Alliance is part of CGIAR a global research partnership for a foodsecure future dedicated to reducing poverty enhancing food and nutrition security and improving natural resources and ecosystem services.


About the position


The Communications Analyst will work with scientists and other communication team members to develop communications products around the Alliance s work in all countries across Africa.

Key duties & responsibilities


  • Support the development of communications content and materials that can take the form of compelling narratives case studies multimedia graphics newsletters etc. for publication to a range of audiences.
  • Support with compiling best practices lessons and synthesizing knowledge management resources
  • Format reports presentations and other technical documents including editing design and layout.
  • Sharing materials and information across Alliance internal collaboration spaces and communication channels.
  • Support in conducting research and collecting data as requested.
  • Organization and production of small events and internal webinar discussions.
  • Creative photography and videography skills to tell the Alliance story in the region.
  • Facilitate the organization of and participation in key knowledgesharing events such as workshops conferences and exhibits.
  • Develop and maintain strategic media relations at the regional and national levels to ensure visibility for the Alliance s work.
  • Working closely with the country leads to implementing the regional strategy.
  • Perform any other substantive and/or administrative task that might be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in communications or related fields.
  • Excellent skills in photography and videography
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills .
  • Prior experience working in an international organization and in multiple time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with people in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment including with external stakeholders and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and ability to translate complex science into widely compelling and targeted communications stories.
  • Able and willing to travel.

Terms of employment


This position is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi Kenya. The initial contract will be for two (2) years subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.

This position is graded at BG06 level with a basic salary of 168837.00 Kenya Shillings in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
