We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Play Worker on a 2month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 15.42 19.79 per hour
Hours Per Week :22.00
Responsibilities:
- To work directly with children and young people to support their personal development by providing appropriate programmes of activities services and facilities
- To support events activities and supervise children and young people using play facilities ensuring that said facilities operate effectively so that the provision contributes to the service and departmental objectives.
- To support the development and delivery of a programme of positive activities enjoyable and interesting to the children and young people taking part in them.
- To take part in consultations with children and young people in the planning of positive interesting activities.
- To ensure the maintenance of agreed records including user registers contacts doctors accident books financial transactions risk assessments output data and basic reports.
Qualifications:
- It is expected that the post holder will have a relevant Play Work qualification or similar (NVQ / Cache Level 2 or above)
- Knowledge of procedures involved in Safeguarding children and young people.
- Knowledge of vulnerable groups and the challenges of working with children and young people
- Knowledge of health and safety relating to the delivery of play related services.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of principles underpinning the delivery of play work/childcare/youth support provision.
Experience:
- Experience of implementing frontline Open Access FreePlay Services and activities for children and/or young people such as facility based detached projects open or closed play spaces and targeted programmes.
- Experience of adventure play facilities their maintenance and development.
- Experience of working with and supporting children and young people with complex needs.
