Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Residential Support Worker on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 17.86 23.05 per Hour

Summary:

The Residential Support Worker (Casual) will be responsible for providing personcentered care and support to adults with learning disabilities autism and associated physical disabilities at the Orient Street Short Breaks Service. The role involves creating a safe caring and engaging environment supporting individuals in developing their independence and ensuring their wellbeing during their stay.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide highquality support in accordance with individual care plans ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Assist individuals with personal care including washing dressing eating and toileting in a respectful and empowering manner.
  • Perform manual handling duties as required.
  • Assist with domestic duties such as cleaning meal preparation and general home management.
  • Administer medication under the direction of senior staff ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of people with learning disabilities autism and behaviours of concern.
  • Knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to adults safeguarding practice mental capacity and deprivation of liberty legislation and best practice.
  • Knowledge of on call procedures and regulatory requirements for reporting and escalating issues or concerns.
    Awareness of health and safety issues within a residential environment.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of and commitment to the Councils Equality and Diversity Policy.
  • Knowledge of issues involved in the care and control of medication.
  • An understanding of the principles of Person centred working and how they would be implemented in a respite setting.

Experience:

  • Experience of working with adults with learning difficulties within a residential environment including experience of providing personal care and working with people who have behaviours of concern.
  • Experience of Safeguarding.
  • Experience of successful working in an integrated manner including team working and partnership to achieve positive outcomes for adults.
  • Knowledge and experience around setting targets/ goals and measuring achievements and promoting a wide range of activities for all client groups.
