SUMMARY:
The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City governments chief financial agency. OMBs staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The Transportation Unit is responsible for monitoring the expense capital and revenue budgets of the Department of Transportation. This oversight role involves preparation of the financial plan through analysis of requests to fund new initiatives and development of proposals to optimize the use of resources; monitoring agency expenditures operations and key programmatic indicators to ensure adherence with the financial plan and management priorities; and participating in special projects and Citywide initiatives to facilitate efficient agency operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will support the taskforce in conducting a comprehensive analysis of grants and how they are operationalized within DOT. This will include putting together a guide on understanding and monitoring the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) / Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This project will involve reviewing funding sources program requirements and financial implications to strengthen our understanding and management of these programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong analytical and research skills.
Interest in government funding transportation infrastructure or financial planning.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency in Excel and data analysis preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical quantitative research and communication skills. Additionally candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
