TASK FORCE: Technology Budget and Management

SUMMARY:
The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City governments chief financial agency. OMBs staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
OMBs Technology Budget & Management Task Force (TBM) is at the center of shaping the Citys Information Technology (IT) landscape as it prepares and monitors the Citywide IT budget and reviews and analyzes projects with regard to technical feasibility financial justification programmatic merit and procurement methodology. TBM is responsible for the approval and oversight of the funding acquisition and implementation of all computer technology and telecommunication initiatives within New York City government.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The intern will be responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities:
Acquire and apply knowledge of accounting principles guidelines and directives leveraged in the review of budget requests from agencies
Conduct financial budget and technical analysis of citywide technology projects
Support the organization in the preparation of written memos and reports related to the review of capitally financed projects
Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the $3.7 billion Citywide IT capital budget
Review and update existing budget and training documentation as needed
Work with the team to manage trackers and financial reports
Update existing financial tracking databases to ensure accuracy consistency and records are kept uptodate
Work with TBM analysts to streamline and optimize the tracking systems
Generate inventory reports as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Description of Specific Skills Required:
Microsoft Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Access)
Knowledge with SharePoint PowerApps or similar technologies (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and followthrough
Strong organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively work with remote colleagues and be a good teammate.
Interested in budgeting finance and other related areas.
REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited college or university. Strong analytical research and communications skills are required. Candidates must have familiarity in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program undergraduate students must be enrolled or accepted into a college or university.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June August each year.
