Requirements
We are seeking an experienced RPG Developer/Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong background in EDI solutions within an AS/400 environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining RPGbased applications while ensuring seamless EDI transactions. This role requires deep expertise in RPG IV/ILE programming AS/400 system operations and EDI standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop enhance and maintain RPG applications in an AS/400 environment ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Design implement and support EDI solutions including transaction processing and integration with trading partners.
Work with various EDI X12 transaction sets such as 850 (Purchase Order) 810 (Invoice) 856 (Advance Ship Notice) 855 (Purchase Order Acknowledgment) 997 (Functional Acknowledgment) 204 (Motor Carrier Load Tender) and 214 (Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message).
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Debug troubleshoot and resolve application issues to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
Maintain and optimize AS/400 system operations including CL programming and DB2/400 database management.
Develop structured CL programs and ensure efficient batch processing.
Work closely with external partners and internal stakeholders to manage EDI communication protocols such as FTP and AS2.
Document technical specifications system changes and best practices for RPG development.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve system efficiency and performance.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
Proven experience as an RPG Developer/SME focusing on EDI solutions in an AS/400 environment.
Strong proficiency in RPG IV/ILE programming and experience with RPG III RPG400 RPGLE and some RPG Free.
Indepth knowledge of EDI standards including X12 transaction sets and protocols like FTP and AS2.
Experience with AS/400 system operations including CL programming and DB2/400 database management.
Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Ability to work independently manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with modernizing legacy RPG applications.
Familiarity with web services and API integrations in AS/400.
Exposure to other programming languages or tools used in AS/400 environments.
