Overview
The EDI Specialist plays a crucial role in the organization by managing the electronic data interchange (EDI) processes that facilitate seamless communication between trading partners. The EDI Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining EDI systems ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing support to endusers. By working closely with IT and business teams the EDI Specialist helps optimize supply chain operations and improve customer satisfaction. A strong understanding of EDI protocols and data formats is essential along with the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions quickly. Key Responsibilities
- Manage EDI system implementations and integrations with internal and external systems.
- Maintain and monitor existing EDI transactions to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain EDIrelated documentation and user guides.
- Perform data mapping from internal formats to EDI standards such as EDIFACT and X12.
- Coordinate with IT and business teams to resolve EDIrelated issues.
- Provide support and training to endusers on EDI practices and systems.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in project management for EDI initiatives setting timelines and deliverables.
- Conduct testing and validation of EDI documents before production.
- Implement upgrades and enhancements to existing EDI systems.
- Analyze EDI transactions and report on performance metrics.
- Facilitate communication between trading partners regarding EDI processes.
- Oversee data integrity and accuracy within EDI transactions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in EDI workflows.
- Stay updated on EDI technologies and industry trends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in EDI systems management.
- Proficient in EDI standards such as EDIFACT X12 and XML.
- Experience with EDI mapping tools like IBM Sterling Liaison or similar software.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes.
- Proficient in programming languages such as SQL Java or C#.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving EDI issues.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Detailoriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with EDI document types such as 850 856 and 940.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g. EDI certified professional).
