Job Description

We are seeking a Consultant/Specialist General Surgeon to join a dedicated regional team - This position is central to strengthening surgical services, ensuring high-quality, continuous care for the community. Your opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping regional surgical services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital-wide strategic planning.
  • Perform elective and emergency general surgery.
  • Conduct outpatient clinics and manage pre/post-operative care.
  • Participate in the on-call roster as part of a dedicated surgical team.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and strategic development
Essential Criteria:
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent international qualification.
  • Proven experience in managing a wide range of general surgical procedures.
  • Commitment to teaching, training, and mentoring junior medical staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in elective and emergency general surgery.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to manage complex surgical cases.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in rural or regional healthcare settings.
