Job Description

What we are looking for

The Head of Finance here is a critical role which focuses organizations financial performance planning reporting risk management financial operations and procedures whilst driving the framework of policies that promotes financial compliance culture and vision amongst our companys evergrowing teams.



What does the job involve

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the companys financial strategy to support its strategic goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets forecasts and longterm financial plans.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decisionmaking.
  • Prepare and develop all necessary accounting procedures and financial manuals

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements reports and analyses.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide insights to senior management.
  • Prepare financial and operational documents packages for lenders and investors service their information requests and maintain longterm relationships
  • Ensure monthly closing process for accounting team and create and shape local processes in liaison with the accounting team
  • Prepare companys budget statements and monthly analytical reports in accordance with Group guidelines

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors regulatory bodies and financial institutions.
  • Liaise with the regulatory authorities on licensing compliance or audits
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Identify and address potential financial risks and costs for the company
  • Follow the taxation and regulatory legislation and framework in the country and forecast implications for the company

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management including forecasting and optimizing cash reserves.
  • Manage banking relationships and negotiate financial terms to benefit the company.
  • Ensure effective management of shortterm and longterm financing needs.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations policies and procedures.
  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for audits and compliance reviews.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team fostering a collaborative and highperformance culture.
  • Oversee recruitment training and development of finance staff.
  • Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations.

Financial Systems and Processes:

  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Streamline financial processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of financial data and systems.

Stakeholder Relations & Management:

  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and providers of banking services mobile money and dealerships.
  • Serve as the main contact person of Kenya entity for finance related queries.
  • Actively participate in different financial processes and organizational matters
  • Have the ability to manage and control the execution of processes crossfunctionally with multiple departments
  • Supervising the finance department and ensuring that all activities are current and updated.



Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in Accounting Finance or relevant field. An MSc/MBA and Qualified Accountant (ACA CIMA ACCA) is desirable
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar position 7 10 years of total experience
  • Financial operations knowledge including managing finance flows finance relations financial strategy and planning budgeting and forecasting taxation issues etc.
  • A handson professional with the ability to put things in structure; rational and result driven
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively present information to top management identify problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen; able to understand and support corporate longterm business development strategy; Cost control & efficiencies validate cost base
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities with a track record in managing and growing teams with the utmost level of respect and integrity
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial regulations accounting principles and IFRS standards with high levels of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Proficiency in financial/Payments software and systems (e.g. ERP systems financial modeling tools).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to the mission of financial inclusion and social impact.

NonNegotiables

  • 7 years of proven Finance experience; with 5 years in a similar leadership position or higher in a large growthstage organization with a fastpaced environment.

  • Ideal profiles must have prior experience in the Asset Financing sector OR;

    • Led finance functions across multiple geographies in emerging markets across Africa India or Pakistan.

    • Open to expats willing to relocate.

  • Solid experience in managing daytoday financial operations and securing investments or funding for asset financing;

    • Proven success in pitching to banks investors and partners to secure funding and strategic partnerships.

    • Proven success in presenting financial strategies negotiating deals and managing investor relations.

  • Must be open to nontraditional work structures and frequent travel to client sites across Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
