Job Description

Job Title: Accountant Lv3 / US GAAP Accounting Consultant
Client: Food Manufacturing Industry
Duration: 11 months with possible extension
Location: Wayzata MN 55391

Work Arrangement:
Hybrid schedule with normal business hours; local candidate required

Job Description:
  • The Accountant 3 will establish and maintain accounting policies fiscal controls prepare financial reports and safeguard our organizations assets.
  • We seek a professional with basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • In this role you will help build accurate standard financial statements that comply with established requirements and policies.
  • Contribute to new setup and changes in existing financial applications to optimize effectiveness.
  • Review and create standard accounting report packages.
  • Perform basic accounting duties.
  • Maintain accounting and financial records and reports.
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Job Purpose and Impact:
  • The US GAAP Consultant will monitor and implement new accounting standards maintain the companys global accounting policies and educate finance and business personnel on these policies globally.
  • Provide senior management businesses functions and finance teams guidance on the application of the global accounting policies to significant and unusual transactions.
  • Collaborate with global process owners IT and controls teams to design and implement processes controls and systems that comply with accounting policies.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and advise on global accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage projects to implement new accounting standards including evaluation research and communication of the impact to key finance and business leaders.
  • Design processes and controls to comply with new standards.
  • Develop and coordinate execution of accounting policy training strategy for global finance and business teams.
  • Apply an advanced understanding of internal and external best practices to review and evaluate areas of improvement.
  • Identify and lead policy and process optimization activities partnering with finance experts and leaders to promote process change.
  • Foster partnership with external auditors to resolve significant accounting and audit matters.
  • Lead complex and highprofile accounting projects such as impairment analyses and accounting for acquisitions divestitures and joint ventures.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and audit committee materials.
  • Provide expert thought leadership and work with limited direction using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems.
  • May provide direction to supporting team members and act as a strategic contributor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience
  • Certified Public Accounting license or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of experience in public accounting
  • Experience auditing financial statements and internal control over accounting/reporting processes
  • Experience accounting for mergers and acquisitions
  • Experience in technical accounting research and writing technical memos
