Our client is an NGO dedicated to addressing inequality in Africa by connecting talented young people with highvalue learning and career opportunities. Working with learners funders employers and education providers they create opportunities for young people to skill reskill or upskill accelerating their career progress. Their mission is to continuously innovate and provide marginalised youth with pathways to success and lifechanging opportunities.
They have recently developed the Experience Lab an innovative programme designed to bridge the experience gap in South Africa’s labour market. The Experience Lab aims to equip mid and highskill learners in the Full Stack Web Developer pathway with realworld experience through:
Learners in the Experience Lab also receive holistic support through coaching mentoring wellness initiatives and employability training. A data platform underpins the programme efficiently matching learners with fulltime opportunities once they have gained sufficient experience.
The Experience Lab’s Goals
Strategic Integration: Serve as the primary link between the Experience Lab and other initiatives within the NGO identifying synergies and aligning efforts to enhance the Lab’s impact and the organisation’s overall effectiveness.
Team Oversight and Support: Provide strategic guidance mentorship and oversight to the Experience Lab team including the Project Manager and other members ensuring their work aligns with project milestones goals and impact metrics.
Budget Management: Oversee the Experience Lab's budget ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximise impact and sustainability. Monitor and optimise expenditures to align with financial goals and project requirements.
Talent Management and Resourcing: Lead the recruitment onboarding and management of team members essential to the success of the Experience Lab. Build a skilled and collaborative team equipped to meet project goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with funding partners providing regular transparent updates on project progress key milestones and impact metrics. Represent the Experience Lab in discussions to align project outcomes with partner objectives.
Pipeline Development: Collaborate with the team to develop and expand a pipeline of handson impactful learning opportunities for participants enhancing their employability through realworld experiences.
Corporate Partnerships and Business Development: Identify and secure partnerships with corporate entities to support learner placement and project engagement. Maintain and deepen relationships with key partners to extend the Experience Lab’s reach and impact.
Financial Sustainability: Drive efforts to secure diverse funding sources including grants corporate sponsorships and other investments ensuring the Lab’s longterm viability.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Work closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to establish KPIs track performance and create insights for stakeholders. Prepare highlevel reports for senior leadership and external partners ensuring datadriven decisionmaking and transparency.
Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Experience Lab implementing process enhancements and best practices to elevate the quality and impact of its initiatives.
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce Business Administration Development Project Management or a related field. Additional certifications in areas like social impact technology or education are advantageous.
Experience: At least 710 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership roles overseeing programs in education tech or social impact sectors.
Business Development Expertise: A proven track record in business development and partnership management including securing funding or investments for projects.
Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage crossfunctional teams oversee complex projects and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strategic Visionary: Able to design and implement strategies that integrate multiple projects for maximum organisational impact.
Relationship Builder: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to foster meaningful partnerships with corporate and community stakeholders.
Financial Expertise: Proficient in designing and managing budgets with experience securing and reporting on funding from diverse sources.
OutcomeOriented: Driven by measurable results with strong analytical skills to monitor and optimise performance.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic fastpaced environment adept at managing ambiguity and pivoting strategies when needed.
