JOB POSITION: Electrical Engineer
The electrical engineer will design electric motor controls as related to overhead cranes and hoists and conduct applications and specifications of Magnetic Motor Starters Relays and AC inverters. Support the engineering department in all phases of product or development engineering activities related to the creation of product designs production drawings schematics and bills of materials and programming.
Requirements
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calculate wire sizes and overload protection:
- For any model crane up to 800V DC and 4160V AC.
- Based on customer specifications and schematics.
- Using appropriate electrical codes and Konecranes standards.
Problemsolving:
- Participate in resolving manufacturing problems (shop or field).
- Collaborate with engineers technicians and other departments.
- Research and define problems and develop solutions.
- Communicate effectively with relevant personnel.
Electrical design and documentation:
- Prepare single line diagrams panel layouts and interconnect drawings.
- Use customerprovided information and schematics.
Component selection:
- Size and specify purchase components and BOMs.
- Consider Konecranes standards vendor information and product knowledge.
Design improvement:
- Contribute to design improvements for better functionality and cost reduction.
- Provide relevant information to the chief engineer.
Circuit design modification:
- Modify/improve existing circuit designs as needed.
- Address field problems material obsolescence and other issues.
- Respond to customer and manager requests.
Motor and drive control design:
- Design electrical controls for motors drives etc.
- Apply product knowledge electrical codes clearances and Konecranes standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering and manufacturing.
Develop drawings and diagrams:
- Create connection/cable diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
- Use product knowledge electrical codes and Konecranes standards.
Field support:
- Travel to sites for meetings or troubleshooting major control system issues.
Qualifications
Education: BSEE or BSEET degree required.
- Experience:35 years in electrical engineering/drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2016 or Zuken E3.
- PLC and HMI programming experience (Rockwell Siemens or Danfoss preferred).
- Experience setting up variable frequency drives (preferred).
Knowledge: Familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application.
