As the Assurance and Investigations Manager you will play a key role leading the testing and assurance activities for financial crime controls within the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Assurance program. This role will report directly to the Head of Compliance Policy and Oversight and will collaborate closely with stakeholders across compliance enterprise risk management risk operations and audit functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assurance Testing and Monitoring:
Lead the planning design and execution of assurance testing reviews for financial crime controls ensuring that all key processes are tested effectively and in line with regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and methodologies to evaluate the operational effectiveness of financial crime risk management controls.
Oversee the preparation and execution of test scripts ensuring thorough assessment and accurate reporting of control effectiveness.
Risk Management and Reporting:
Identify and assess potential weaknesses in financial crime controls recommending improvements and adjustments to mitigate risks.
Report on assurance testing findings providing clear actionable insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Liaise with the Head of Compliance Policy and Oversight to report on testing outcomes and escalate highrisk issues.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with compliance enterprise risk management risk operations and audit teams to ensure alignment of financial crime testing with overall compliance strategies and risk management frameworks.
Assist in the development of action plans to address control deficiencies and ensure appropriate followup and remediation efforts are tracked and executed.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to stay informed of evolving industry standards and best practices in financial crime compliance.
Regulatory and Internal Standards Adherence:
Stay uptodate with financial crime regulatory requirements and industry standards ensuring assurance testing is in line with both current and anticipated regulatory expectations.
Assist the Head of Compliance Policy and Oversight in ensuring that the organisations financial crime controls align with both local and international compliance frameworks.
Continuous Improvement:
Provide ongoing recommendations for enhancing testing approaches tools and methodologies ensuring they remain robust efficient and adaptable to emerging threats and regulatory changes.
Lead or support initiatives to enhance the organisations broader compliance testing framework sharing insights and best practices across teams.
Training and Development:
Mentor and develop members of the assurance and investigations team providing guidance on testing methodologies reporting and overall financial crime risk management practices.
Deliver training on financial crime testing processes and best practices to relevant stakeholders across the business.
Qualifications :
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance internal audit risk management or financial crime testing roles with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
Familiarity with AML sanctions fraud and anticorruption regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
Proven experience in developing and executing assurance testing methodologies and reporting within a regulated environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of financial crime regulatory frameworks (e.g. FATF EU AMLD OFAC UK AML regulations).
Strong understanding of financial crime compliance including AntiMoney Laundering (AML) CounterTerrorist Financing (CTF) fraud detection and sanctions controls.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to assess complex financial crime risks and recommend appropriate testing approaches.
Experience with compliance management tools and systems.
Soft Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
High level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying gaps in controls.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with experience working across departments to drive compliance initiatives.
