Were seeking a fulltime SPED Teacher to join an IL school districts Structured Teaching and Learning Room (STLR) program a specialized selfcontained classroom designed for approximately 10 students in grades 35. This position spans the full school year and offers an opportunity to support students with autism or other developmental delays in a highly structured learning environment.
Working within the program focuses on providing intensive support for students communication social skills and behavior management. Students receive individualized academic instruction through an alternate or modified curriculum tailored to their unique needs. The small class size allows for targeted interventions and close collaboration with each student.
Career Overview:
- Deliver specialized instruction on communication social skills and positive behavior support in a structured smallgroup setting.
- Implement an alternate or modified academic curriculum based on each students needs.
- Work closely with paraprofessionals and support staff to create a supportive structured learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress adjusting strategies to meet IEP goals.
Requirements
- Illinois LBS1 K12 Certification
- Bachelors Degree in Special Education or related degree
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role
- Experience working with children with a wide range of varying abilities
