Job Description

AECOM Buildings Places is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based out of our Saskatoon office with opportunities for hybridwork.  

AECOM Buildings Places Canada (BP Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture all the buildings engineering disciplines landscape architecture urban planning urban design economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Key member of the mechanical design team responsible for design and construction administration of various facilities;
  • Provide conceptual design at the early stages of the project and develop the concept to high quality detailed design coordinate with all disciplines;
  • Design HVAC Controls Plumbing and Fire Protection systems;
  • Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs (Carrier HAP);
  • Perform calculations conduct design drawing reviews and field investigations;
  • Ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and client standards;
  • Write/ edit mechanical specifications.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements: 

In order to be considered for this position candidates must possess at a very minimum: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent no less than four (4) years of experience in the mechanical design of various buildings.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Saskatchewan.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • 712 years of experience in the Buildings Engineering Industry.
  • Strong Consulting Industry background in Canada.
  • Indepth knowledge of HVAC Hydronic Systems Controls Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
  • Experience in leading the design as a mechanical engineer in Water and Wastewater projects.
  • Familiarity with NFPA ASHRAE CSA and other industry standards and codes
  • Experience in LEED/ Net Zero design preferred.
  • Well organized selfdirected work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Very strong communication skills spoken and written; good presentation skills.
  • Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or nontechnical audience.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
