Job Description

Our Toronto Studio is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Landscape Architectural Designer to join our team.  As a part of our team you will have a strong focus on infrastructure led projects in tandem with projects that have an environmental restoration and active transportation component.  You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including our inhouse disciplines and highprofile designers as well as our sector leading external partners.  Youll have the opportunity to work on some of the GTAs largest and most complex transitoriented projects.  These currently include Hurontario LRT Yonge North Subway Extension and Ontario Line.
However not all of our projects are large scale.  We have projects that are rich and varied providing support to our inhouse disciplines to create sustainable and environmentally responsible design solutions that include naturalization and active transportation.  You will be challenged and inspired by projects that demand a variety of ideas and solution that arise from collaboration and appreciation for a wide variety of design disciplines.

Role accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Landscape Architects Arborists Planners and Urban Designers to create innovative contextsensitive urban environments for active transportation and transit corridors
  • Generate and develop conceptual designs
  • Produce construction documentation and details using AutoCAD (Civil3D and/or Revit are considerable assets)
  • Work internally and externally with multidisciplinary teams including Architects and Engineers
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates
  • Ensure project deliverables meet standards and contract requirements
  • Support contract administration and conduct site visits as required

Qualifications :

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelors degree or diploma from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture or similar
  • A minimum of 3 years (postgraduation) of relevant working experience in a professional design firm 
  • Proficiency in technical detailing drafting and landscape construction practices along with knowledge of local construction and plant materials and experience with municipal and agency approvals and regulations
  • Previous experience working within large multidisciplinary teams as part of a project delivery system that includes project agreements project specific output specifications and schedules for infrastructure led projects such as rail or roadway is considered an asset
  • Experience in preparing construction documentation such as specifications and schedules of quantities would be an asset
  • Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD (Civil3D) is mandatory
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and Revit is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Photoshop Illustrator) SketchUp Revit and Rhino is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) is mandatory
  • Capacity to multitask and thrive in a fastpaced environment with a keen eye for detail
  • Capacity to uphold design excellence in challenging project time frames and deadlines
  • Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture is considered an asset
  • A valid drivers license is considered an asset
