Title: Project Mining Manager
Term: Full time
Location: Perth office and operation sites
Scope of Responsibilities
As General Manager Production and Project Management you will report directly to the Company CEO and President and be responsible for planning and managing multiple mine operations primarily focus on development and optimisation of the Australian Gold Projects to put it into production.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Management:
- Identify shortterm and longterm operating milestones and develop strategies to achieve them.
- Implement operating strategies to foster a highperformance culture and ensure compliance with the company's standard operating procedures and industry standards.
- Provide leadership to build strong production reporting systems and controls to improve internal operations and productivity.
Mine Development and Production: - Direct and manage mine development and production programs.
- Place the Company Gold Projects in WA into production and optimise the Gold Production plan for the projects.
- Identify operating milestones schedule activities define performance measurements and ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget.
Risk Control: - Assess operating risks and develop implement and maintain risk control systems.
- Provide periodic risk assessments and make recommendations.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): - Develop and maintain operating standards and control procedures in accordance with Australian mining regulations and standards.
- Ensure operations comply with safety health and environmental regulations and deliver results exceeding industry standards.
Operating Programs: - Mine Development Plan: Design implement upon approval and maintain a wellstructured mine development plan. This includes constructing the plant facilities and production mines on time and within budget according to specified protocols.
- Grade Control and Plant Processing: Develop implement upon approval and maintain rigorous grade control and plant processing procedures. Ensure that mineral resources are efficiently mined and processed to achieve optimal recoveries and minimize dilution.
- Exploration Programs: Design implement upon approval and maintain comprehensive exploration programs. Aim to explore and identify new mineral resources and increase compliant resources.
- Maintenance Programs: Establish implement upon approval and maintain a robust maintenance program. Ensure that all capital assets are wellmaintained and utilized to their full capacity. Develop strong relationships with local contractors and business partners to support the supply chain and maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Safety Programs: Design implement and maintain an effective safety program. Ensure that all operation sites adhere to industry safety standards at all times.
- Resource Allocation: Direct and manage the allocation of resources to maximize operating and financial results. Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of operations by optimising resource use.
- Program Implementation: Ensure all programs are executed with operational excellence on time and within budget. Continuously monitor and refine programs to maintain high standards of performance.
- Government Liaison: Assisting CEO and President to communicate and build relationship with government native groups and ensure the operations in compliance with W.A. government requirement and implement operations in line with regulatory requirement.
Training: - Develop training programs to improve management skills for senior and middlelevel operation managers.
- Ensure the management team can effectively manage the workforce and adhere to good governance practices.
Budgeting and Cost Control: - Develop operating and capital budgets monitor and enforce them once approved.
- Implement and maintain internal operation reporting systems to collect and analyse operating results.
- Ensure reports fulfill public reporting obligations and include budget/actual comparisons and analysis.
Communications: - Ensure timely and adequate communication to report operating events to the parent company for decisionmaking.
- Accurately and comprehensively communicate instructions and policies to operations for implementation.
Other Duties: - Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Certifications - Mining Engineer Qualification:
- A degree in mining engineering from a recognized institution.
- A metallurgical designation is an asset but not mandatory.
- Professional Registration:
- Registration with a relevant professional body such as Engineers Australia may be required.
- Certification or membership with professional mining organizations can be beneficial.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a general manager role within the mining industry.
- Proven track record of building and operating gold mines producing over 100000 ounces annually.
- Extensive experience in planning managing and allocating workforce and capital resources meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Strong leadership and supervision skills to deliver operational and financial results.
- Excellent communication skills highlevel professional reporting standards and a proactive attitude to resolve issues.
Right to Work in Australia - Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency:
- The candidate must be an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.
- Work Visa:
- If the candidate is not an Australian citizen or permanent resident they must have a valid work visa that allows them to work in Australia. Common work visas include the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) or the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186).
- Complying with Employment Laws:
- The candidate must comply with Australian employment laws including the Fair Work Act 2009 and relevant workplace health and safety regulations.
Health and Safety Compliance - Health and Safety Training:
- Completion of relevant health and safety training courses is essential.
- Knowledge of the Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulations.
- Medical Fitness:
- The candidate must undergo and pass a medical examination to ensure they are fit to work in a mining environment.
Legal and Regulatory Knowledge - Compliance with Australian Mining Regulations:
- Understanding and adherence to Australian mining regulations including environmental laws and reporting requirements.
- Risk Management:
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and management within the mining sector.
Additional Requirements - Background Checks:
- The candidate may be required to undergo background checks including criminal history checks.
- References:
- Providing professional references to verify qualifications and experience.
- Driver’s License:
- A valid Australian driver's license may be required for travel between operation sites.
