Job description
We are seeking an experienced dynamic and highlymotivated Staff Product Designer to join our team and help shape our product. In this role you will be a key player in shaping every aspect of design at Walter from crafting intuitive UX/UI experiences and defining our visual design to our branding and contributing to the evolution of our design system. You may be a good fit for this job if you love diving into business domains to gain expert knowledge of new product spaces and understand precisely how users live within it. You will work closely with the Head of Design and engineering to ensure our products are intuitive aesthetically pleasing and aligned with our business goals.
Who you are
As a Staff Product Designer you bring strong rationale for the Why behind your design decisions articulating your choices with clarity and confidence. You approach constructive critiques with strong opinions loosely held focusing on collaboration to align on scope and speed to development. You excel at speaking clearly about tradeoffs and framing your thoughts in a way that invites meaningful discourse from nondesigners fostering a shared understanding and cohesive vision across the team.
What youll do
- Create beautiful intuitive userfriendly interfaces. Crafting high quality high impact solutions.
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of Walters design system and guidelines.
- Conduct user interviews to learn the needs and frustrations of our customers.
- Break down complex user journeys and design endtoend user flows.
- Provide design critiques and guidance to engineers.
- Seek feedback from others to improve your work.
- Effectively manage your workload with minimal external management.
- Shape design culture and ethos.
- Provide design mentorship to engineers.
- Have strong rationale for the Why behind design decisions. Have strong opinions loosely held when participating in constructive critiques with the goal to align on scope and speed to development. Speak clearly to tradeoffs and formulate thoughts in terms that nondesigners can enter into discourse with.
- Help build Walters overall aesthetic from marketing materials to our product.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in design
- Ability to thrive in independent highagency environments
- Ability to communicate designs to engineers and other stakeholders
- Expertlevel skill in building endtoend customer journeys from idea prototype to final design and handoff with an iterative approach
- Basic frontend development skills
