The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high quality drinking water managing wastewater and stormwater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire an Administrative Project Manager M2 for a position with the Strategic Operations and Planning Division Strategic Operations and Research Directorate position located in Kingston New York.
The Bureau of Water Supplys Strategic Operations and Research Directorate is responsible for managing daily reservoir operations wholesale water operations systemwide water quantity and quality modeling and analysis strategic and emergency planning tracking managing and negotiating policies and programs associated with water supply at all levels of government and ensuring the Bureau remains a worldrenowned leader in the water industry through extensive innovation and research efforts. This Directorate and Division play a critical role in ensuring the Bureau of Water Supply meets its mission of reliably delivering a sufficient quantity of highquality drinking water to protect public health and quality of life for the City of New York.
Under direction of the Executive Director of Strategic Operations and Research the Administrative Project Manager M2 will serve as Chief of Strategy Policy and Innovation and will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director and the Bureau by planning and directing the technical and administrative aspects of the Division to meet future operational needs and planning goals of the Bureau. The Chief will be responsible for ensuring the Bureau meets its obligations under the Agency Strategic Plan while developing tracking and overseeing Bureaus own strategic plan. The Chief will work to develop a longterm strategy for NYCDEPs Filtration Avoidance Determination Reservoir Releases Policies and others as assigned. They will liaise with other City staff on climate change efforts energy usage and track all federal and state water regulation changes that could impact the water supply. The Chief will also explore innovative ways to improve our operations technology use and longterm strategies by overseeing research efforts. Lastly they will work collaboratively to build strong relationships with staff within the Directorate the Bureau the Agency other Agencies elected officials and the general public.
The Chief will be required to manage staff at several locations including Kingston Valhalla Grahamsville and Queens New York along with visiting other facilities throughout the watershed.

Special Working Conditions: Administrative Project Managers may be required to work shifts including nights Saturdays Sundays and holidays.
Preferred Skills:
Professional experience representing on behalf of an organization to stakeholders and Agency staff.
Delegating and scheduling work following up being proactive and ensuring completion of relevant tasks and projects.
Previous supervisory experience.
Previous experience managing technical reports and publications.
Previous experience in working and communicating effectively with people serving as a liaison.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of Publisher and Adobe with experience in fillable documents in Adobe reader.
Writing organizational and time management skills.
Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills also a must.
Problem solving skills.
Drivers license valid in the State of New York maintained for duration of employment.
Ability to travel throughout the 2000 square mile watershed utilizing a New York City vehicle.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration and five years of fulltime satisfactory experience in the planning administering or expediting of engineering design and/or construction or coordinating a very large engineering project two years of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in 1 above; two years of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. One year of experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college or university education leading to a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering engineering technology architecture landscape architecture architectural technology construction construction management construction technology sustainable design urban planning urban studies city planning transportation planning business administration or public administration; (b) An accredited Masters degree in one of the disciplines described in 1 above; (c) a Juris Doctor degree or (d) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer Registered Architect or Landscape Architect. However all candidates must have the two years of the administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience as described in 1 above.
