Job Description

What will you be doing 

As a Mechanical Engineer you will join a team in Derby/Warrington to support our activities within the Nuclear Sector.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Create and optimize designs for various types of tanks (e.g. storage tanks accumulator tanks surge tanks) used in nuclear power plant systems.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations including wall thickness reinforcement requirements and support structures.
  • Address factors affecting tank stability such as hydrostatic pressure wind and seismic loads.
  • Contribute to design definitions with calculations analysis and feasibility studies for either thermal performance or mechanical design.
  • Diagnose and solve operational issues related to storage of liquids or gasses such as fouling pressure drop or reduced efficiency.
  • Oversee tank design projects from concept to detail design coordinating with vendors suppliers and other engineering teams.

Who are we looking for 

  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations. (i.e. ASME VIII API 620 etc).
  • Experience with industrial tanks or pressured vessels and experience designing mechanical pressured equipment (Bentley AutoPIPE software experience preferred).
  • Ability to analyse complex problems propose innovative solutions and ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.

Qualifications :

Experience skills and qualifications required: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in mechanical engineering or a field related to pressured equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles for tanks and pressure vessels.
  • Proficiency in industrystandard software tools: 3D Modelling: Autodesk Inventor Siemens NX AutoCAD.
  • Mechanical Analysis: Bentley AutoPIPE Vessel Intergraph PV Elite ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASME BPVC API EN ISO).
