Pan American Silver Corp. is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join its team in Vancouver. This role will report to the Tax Manager. Along with the other members of the Tax Team the Senior Tax Analyst will have responsibility for completion of tax provision information for financial statement reporting purposes and compliance reporting mainly with tax authorities. This will include communication and coordination of numerous tax issues with foreign subsidiary tax personnel and external consultants.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly quarterly and yearly consolidated tax provisions financial statement note disclosures as well as supporting documentation.
- Prepare responses to requests from external financial statement auditors.
- Prepare Canadian income tax returns including T106 and T1134.
- Prepare various other compliance filings including but not limited to GST/HST T5 NR4 US Form 1099 CountrybyCountry Reporting (CbCR) and Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reporting.
- Prepare responses to Canadian and foreign tax authority queries.
- Prepare responses to requests from both the internal audit team and external service providers related to SOX and internal controls testing.
- Provide support for capitalizations to or distributions from subsidiaries and prepare contemporaneous updates to ACB and/or surplus calculations.
- Support the preparation of the budget for global tax payments and the tracking of budget to actual payments.
- Monitor intercompany balances to identify issues and coordinate resolutions as necessary.
- Provide support and/or additional tax information or calculations to the finance and accounting teams to help with additional financial statement disclosures and other external reporting as required.
- Assist as needed with other adhoc tax projects.
Qualifications
- CPA designation
- Enrolled in the CPA Indepth Tax Course
- 45 years experience preferably in a public or industry tax practice environment
- Strong tax accounting skills preferably within a public accounting firm handling the provision calculations for large multinational clients or within a multinational corporation preparing the tax provision.
- Selfstarter in identifying and managing multiple tasks with varying priorities.
- Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
- International travel may be required
