Overview:
The Prepress & Designer plays a crucial role in the production of highquality printed materials. This position is essential for ensuring that all designs meet the technical requirements for printing and that they are produced efficiently and effectively. A Prepress & Designer collaborates directly with clients and internal teams to understand their vision and translate it into visually appealing designs that adhere to brand guidelines and production standards. They are responsible for preparing files for print conducting quality checks and troubleshooting any issues that may arise during production. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical expertise making it vital for any organization that relies on printed materials to communicate its message and brand identity. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review design files for print production.
- Ensure all artwork meets prepress specifications and standards.
- Perform quality assurance checks on files before printing.
- Collaborate with designers to understand design intent and requirements.
- Adjust and optimize images and graphics for print quality.
- Manage multiple projects from start to finish under tight deadlines.
- Communicate with vendors and print providers regarding file formats and specifications.
- Stay uptodate with the latest prepress technologies and processes.
- Resolve any printrelated issues that arise during production.
- Maintain organized file management and documentation practices.
- Provide design support in developing layouts and graphics.
- Implement color management processes to ensure print accuracy.
- Assist in client meetings to present and discuss design concepts.
- Train and mentor junior design staff as needed.
- Contribute to the overall creative direction of projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Graphic Design Fine Arts or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a prepress or design role.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite especially InDesign Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong understanding of print production processes and techniques.
- Excellent typography and layout skills.
- Experience with color correction and management.
- Knowledge of file formats preflighting and proofing processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Creative problemsolving capabilities.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital printing technologies is a plus.
