Job Description

Second Cook

Every memorable dining experience at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts begins behind the scenes with our Culinary teams commitment to safe efficient operations and exceptional cuisine. As a Second Cook the care you devote to preparing each menu item will not go unnoticed by the guests who are fortunate enough to enjoy them! 

This is a fulltime permanent position and we are looking for Second Cooks to start immediately.

Pay Rate: $22.05 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation hourly rates increase after 6 months and then yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $26.75.

Job Duties Include:   

  • Prepare cook and service all food items for a la carte and buffet menus or individual dishes
  • Organize and manage buffets and banquets
  • Follow kitchen policies procedures and service standards and follow all safety and sanitation policies
  • Maintain inventory and records of food supplies and equipment
  • Ensure proper labeling dating and storage of all items in the kitchen
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of work areas utensils and equipment
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and handle guest allergy concerns with appropriate care and importance by reporting to Sous Chef

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of three years in the culinary field required
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline required
  • Journeymans papers or international equivalent an asset
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times 

Physicals aspects include but are not limited to:

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent kneeling pushing pulling lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders stairs and ramps
