Every memorable dining experience at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts begins behind the scenes with our Culinary teams commitment to safe efficient operations and exceptional cuisine. As a First Cook the care you devote to preparing each menu item will not go unnoticed by the guests who are fortunate enough to enjoy them!
This is a fulltime permanent position beginning in June 2025.
Starting Rate of Pay: $23.90 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation hourly rates increase after 6 months and then yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $27.85.
Job Duties Include:
- Prepare cook and service all food items for a la carte and buffet menus or individual dishes
- Organize and manage buffets and banquets
- Follow kitchen policies procedures and service standards and follow all safety and sanitation policies
- Maintain inventory and records of food supplies and equipment
- Ensure proper labeling dating and storage of all items in the kitchen
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of work areas utensils and equipment
- Train and supervise junior staff in preparation cooking and handling of food
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and handle guest allergy concerns with appropriate care and importance by reporting to Sous Chef
Qualifications :
- Minimum of three years in the culinary field required
- Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline required
- Journeymans papers or international equivalent an asset
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physicals aspects include but are not limited to:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Frequent kneeling pushing pulling lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders stairs and ramps
Additional Information :
Visa Requirements: To progress with your application you must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
