Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Development Engineer to lead tire development projects and optimize tire performance. This role involves collaboration with crossfunctional and international teams working closely with OEM and internal customers and traveling to manufacturing plants to oversee tire development and production. The ideal candidate has extensive expertise in tire design construction and testing along with proficiency in CATIA V5 and a strong understanding of industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Tire Development:
- Design and develop new tires to achieve optimal performance for customer approvals.
- Enhance existing tire performance to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Testing and Analysis:
- Develop and execute test plans to evaluate tire performance.
- Analyze tire data to provide design recommendations.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with KRDC development engineers on OEM and replacement tire projects.
- Interface directly with OEM and internal customers to meet requirements.
- Lead tire development programs independently with minimal supervision.
- Manufacturing Support:
- Travel to manufacturing plants to assist with new tire development and production.
- Collaborate with plant production teams and process engineers.
- Industry Engagement:
- Participate in tirerelated organizations such as TRA ETRTO TMC USTMA and RMA.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of tire construction mold design and tread pattern optimization.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 for tire design.
- Basic understanding of Tire Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional and international teams.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including component preparation tire building and curing.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to tire manufacturing.
- Basic knowledge of tire compounding as it relates to performance.
- Intermediate expertise in designing and optimizing tread patterns.
- Strong data analysis skills for evaluating tire performance.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Excellent problemsolving and independent project management skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tire development.
