PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Clearance Requirements:
National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check with fingerprints and Drug Screen.
Type of Work: FullTime 40 hours per week.
Travel:
No travel is anticipated for this effort.
Benefits Offered: Health Dental and Vision
Pay Time Off: Up to 80 hours per year with accrual from day of hire.
Sick Leave: Up to 56 hours per year with accrual from day of hire.
Paid Federal Holidays:
Eleven (11) paid federal holidays.
Estimated Start Date: 01 February 2025
Estimated Pay:
$27.13/hour.

Education & Experience
Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
Current certificate/registry to perform Pharmacy Technician Services in the state of Colorado.
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Have and maintain a current CPR certification.

Highly Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a correctional environment.

Schedule

Work will be performed Monday through Friday (excluding Federal Holidays) normally between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The schedule is subject to change based on the variable needs of the institution and the unpredictable nature of the correctional environment. Work week will not exceed 40 hours per week. No overtime is authorized. The Pharmacy Technician will be available for emergencies as necessary.

Attire:

The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.

Duties/Responsibilities
All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Pharmacy Technician Services and compliance with all federal and state policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and American Correctional Association Foundations/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for but is not limited to:
Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering stocking storing and dispensing of prescription and nonprescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and BOP Formulary constraints.
Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
Assist the pharmacist in maintaining a stock of uptodate medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy satellite camp crash carts emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
Assist the Pharmacist with maintaining the stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication cards for Adults in Custody (AIC) as well as filing Medication Administration Records into the Medical Record.
Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit doses or prepackaged medications.
Complete and maintain competency as indicated by the ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of the Bureau of Prison (BOP) Formulary and any changes to this document.
Maintain the narcotics count and the needle and syringe inventories.
Maintain and restock adequate supplies for the Night Stock cabinet and perform audits of the Night Stock or Automated Dispensing System.
Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or Health Services Administration.
Perform minor clerical duties such as the use of BOP Electronic Medical Records (BEMR) computer documentation and scheduling scanning documents filing typing callouts institutional memorandums answering phones scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
