Clearance Requirements: National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check with fingerprints and Drug Screen.
Type of Work: FullTime 40 hours per week.
Travel: No travel is anticipated for this effort.

Education & Experience
Completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician Training Program.
Six months of practical experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician
A valid drivers license.
Current CPR certification.
Completion of Continuing Medical Education training for the last three years.
Highly Desired Qualifications
Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or an equivalent Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification with appropriate training.
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Attire:
The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.
Working Hours
Work will be performed Monday through Friday (excluding Federal Holidays) normally between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The schedule is subject to change based on the institutions variable needs and the correctional environments unpredictable nature. Work week will not exceed 40 hours per week. No overtime is authorized. The Medical Laboratory Technician will be available for emergencies as necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities
All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Medical Laboratory Services and compliance with all federal and state policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and American Correctional Association Foundations/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.
The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing testing in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory Hematology Urinalysis and Microbiology.
Perform basic blood draws for staff and Adults in Custody (AIC) spin down blood prepare and package specimens for shipping and deliver subject shipping containers to the complex front gate for shipment.
Draw blood open semiopen and locked units which will require direct contact with AIC.
Keep the work area neatly organized maintaining the needle/syringe inventory
Properly document laboratory request logs complete related paperwork and filing and conduct routine equipment checks.
Collect data relating to laboratory efforts (usage types of laboratory studies prompt receipt of orders and timely return of results by our contract labs etc.).
Ensure quality control in collecting specimens ensure appropriate sampling and maintain accurate record keeping.
Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Set up maintain calibrate clean and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment.
Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safety cleanliness and infection control.
The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform minor clerical duties such as the use of Bureau of Prison (BOP) Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) and SENTRY:
Schedule patients on callouts for the laboratory and for other staff members as needed; by scanning documents into BEMR as needed
Stock supplies into the storage area as needed.
Answering phones as needed
Perform all other duties as assigned.
